Contract research for pharma, food supplement, and cosmetics industries

Company

Manfred Schmolz, PhD, founded his first company "Experimental & Diagnostic Immunology GmbH" (EDI GmbH) in 1996 as a contract research and development lab. In 2000 EDI GmbH was certified according to ISO 13485. The goal was to establish complex Co-Culture systems (nowadays: HOT Co-Culture models) for improved in vitro drug activity profiling, thereby circumventing the usually poor translational value of more simple cell culture systems, such as those using isolated immune cells. The invention of the TruCulture® System filled another gap between pre-clinical and clinical immunopharmacology. In September 2007 EDI GmbH merged with Rules-Based Medicine, USA, and in 2014 EDI GmbH became HOT Screen GmbH, after a Management Buy-Out from Myriad-RBM. HOT Screen offers not only contract research in the field of immunopharmacology, immunotoxicology and cell biology, but also contract development of customized cell culture systems, including TruCulture®, of which >100 different types have been designed during the past two decades. HOT Screen services are offered to pharma, biotech, cosmetic, food supplement companies and medical device manufacturers. Our cell culture systems can be designed for pharmacological, toxicological or biocompatibility investigations, the latter even for testing solid materials. HOT Screen provides more than 25 years of experience with a wide spectrum of samples, such as complex natural preparations, small molecules, biologicals, probiotic bacteria, implantable materials, etc.
